Wigan and Leigh Hospice is an independant charitable organisation providing specialist palliative care (SPC) services
for the adult population of Wigan Metropolitan Borough.

It works closely with other SPC providers such as the hospital-based Macmillan Nurse Service, and with other agencies, including General Practitioner primary care teams and consultant-led hospital teams,
with the aim of providing seamless quality services to people living
with a non-curable life-threatening illness and their informal carers.

It is partly funded by NHS monies on a contractual basis. However, the majority of it's income accrues from voluntary donations, legacies, the income from the Hospice's charity shops and the Hospice Lottery.
